Chuck Frey, innovation writer, suggested that the networking site is a great way to generate new ideas and expose your company to insights and trends if it used in the right way.
He has recommended the following tips to help Twitter help your company.
Firstly determine what you are looking for. Work with your team to create a list of keywords, phrases and topics that relate to the idea, challenge or problem in hand.
Secondly observe Twitter conversations on your target topics. You can use a free program on the site called Tweet Deck to create a stream of conversations about your topic. There is another Twitter program called HootSuite which will search a specific item for you.
Using these programs you should note down ideas and try to interact with other to develop the conversation in topics that interest you. Make sure you ask yourself what people are concerned about and what do they want and you may come up with some ideas that you had never thought of.
Finally you should try to interact. Once are following the right sort of people that can offer you genuine insights tweet some questions. What things are annoying or inconvenient about a certain product?, how would you do it better ?etc. This should encourage people to develop new concepts and give you an idea of what your customers want by solving their problems. People like to be listened to.
*tip: try and include some of your keywords in your questions because may encourage a response from people that you aren’t yet connected to.
Frey believes that following these recommendation could innovate your business for the better and access previously untapped vital knowledge.
