Innovation can re-energise a company

  • George W. Buckley has claimed that a no-nonsense approached to innovation has re-energised and strengthened his company.

The 3M chairman also revealed that resolute commitment to exploring and producing new ideas had steered the technology company positively through the recession.

"During tough economic times our investment in research and development remained a top priority," Buckley said.

"Our continued focus on innovation combined with the enthusiasm, creativity and hard work of our people is creating a stronger and faster-growing company."

He also told shareholders that 3M’s $1billion investment in research and development, the creation of a Renewable Energy wing and the expansion of its laboratories in China, India, Poland, Russia and Singapore were driving the company to grow.

Buckley also highlighted his company’s renewed commitment to investing in rising markets as a reason for the success of the business.
