NewsroomPraise innovative behavioursTo instil innovation as a mindset within your company you should praise innovative behaviours. According to innovator Paul Sloan business leaders should encourage employees that act in more adventurous, entrepreneurial and innovative ways. Sloan said that bosses should single out and make a fuss of staff members that are working in the right way. He believes that this creates of culture of change within your company leading other employees to try new ideas without being afraid of the consequences. Celebrate attempts for change even if they don’t always work. Experimenting with ideas is the right way to push your company forward. This can often be a more powerful tool than praising ideas that work. Look to praise employees that come up with new ideas, try to do something differently, challenge conventional thinking, collaborate with different departments or firms, take risks or push for things to happen. “Praise is one of the most powerful weapons in the leader’s armour. It should be used often,” said Sloan.
