NewsroomSolar innovation research agreed with IndiaThe UK’s innovation minister has announced that he has agreed to establish two multi-million pound solar research programs with India. Pat McFadden, minister for business, innovation and skills, claimed that his agreement with Prithviraj Chavan, India’s science and technology minister, would hopefully develop efficient and cost-effective solar energy solutions. McFadden called the two countries “natural partners” in the field of science and technological innovation and claimed that the collaboration would maximise the likeness of both countries achieving international quality cost-effective solar energy. He added that the research would aid Britain to achieve its renewable energy goals and help India to provide electricity to around 10,000 communities thatare not currently connected to its national grid. Both countries have committed £5million each to fund the two projects over three years. The programs hope to advance the production and efficiency of solar cells by developing materials and structures and to increase the stability and performance of photovoltaics.
