Toyota establishes new innovation strategy

  • Toyota has created a new innovation strategy which aims to send customer feedback directly into the design process.

Through its new Design Quality Innovation Division (DQID) the Japanese car manufacturer is hoping to improve the quality of its products and build stronger bonds with its clients.

Kiyotaka Ise, who is heading DQID, said that the division would allow for consumer views to be implemented into designs at a faster rate.

Reports have suggested that the establishment of this new division is Toyota’s attempt to win back valued customers after more than 8 million of its vehicles had to be recalled from across the globe because of dangerous faults.

Accelerator pedals and breaking systems were found to be defective in millions of the auto-manufacturer’s cars, damaging the business’s reputation.
